Description
The Old Town has a very special meaning to the locals here. It’s where the history of Plovdiv began over 8000 years ago and Plovdivians often walk around the historical reserve just to feel the ancient spirit of the city. The Old Town is often referred to as a ‘’living museum’’. It’s filled with galleries, museums, unique, traditional houses from the National Revival era and remains from ancient fortresses of past civilizations (Thracian, Roman).
Some of the most popular places here include an Ancient Roman Theatre ( a 2000-year-old structure still in use today) where events and concerts often take place and Nebet Tepe - one of the city's seven hills and the original birthplace of Plovdiv.
