The statue of Milio is located along the main pedestrian street in the centre of the city. Over the years it has become an emblematic place where locals and visitors often stop by to take pictures. The impressive statue comes with a somewhat odd and interesting story.

The city legend tells of a man called Mikhail Todorov (known by the locals as Milio), who once roamed the main street daily, after becoming mad. The locals once described him as extremely clever as he spoke several languages and was always reading books. Another emblem of the city can be found right next to the statue - the ''together'' sign, which is the motto of Plovdiv as the European Capital of Culture for 2019.
