Description
Erected in 1957, the impressive statue stands as a monument to the Red Army’s liberation of the city during World War II. The memorial commemorates Soviet casualties incurred during the Soviet occupation of Bulgaria in World War II.
The monument is accessible by multiple staircases ascending Bunardzik Hill and can be seen from nearly any spot within Plovdiv. The hill is quite a popular place during the warmer months. Locals like to come here to relax, enjoy nature and take a walk up to the top with friends and family. From the top, you can enjoy some incredible views of Plovdiv and take really good pictures.
