The Maritsa River is the largest river on the Balkan Peninsula. The area which it covers is densely populated, highly industrialized and with developed intensive agriculture. The largest city along its course is the City of Plovdiv, which is associated with the passing river since ancient times. You can enjoy the view of the Maritsa River from the covered Pedestrian Bridge in the centre or anywhere along Maritsa Boulevard.

As part of the official 2019 programme, a project has been introduced which involves the complete renovation and transformation of the long pedestrian area along the Maritsa boulevard. The citizens of Plovdiv will enjoy a series of events there during the summer, brand new play areas for children, installation of sports equipment and many more!
